Cleared goods yard, Leicester, circa 1896. The photograph provides a fine illustration of the large amount of property and land which the Rail company had to buy before construction could begin. The contractor responsible for building this section of the London Extension (Contract No.2 Leake to Aylestone) was Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton. See on Route Map
