River Trent viaduct under construction near Nottingham

A long three-quarter view of the impressive viaduct over the River Trent at Wilford in Nottingham. The majority of the construction work seems to be complete, with only the capping of the parapets to finish off. Scaffolding is in place in order to finish this. In the foreground is a length of contractor's railway, on which stands a rake of flat bolster wagons. Sadly the viaduct, made up of several types of construction, has long since been demolished. It had been built by the contractors, Logan & Hemingway, sometime between 1894 and 1899, along with the rest of the line between Annesley and East Leake. See on Route Map
