Unknown railwayman at Woodford & Hinton

This view of an unknown railwayman at Woodford & Hinton Station was captured by S. W. A. Newton, sometime around 1899 when the railway had opened. The gentleman's uniform gives him away as being a member of station staff, but in what capacity is unclear. Like all Great Central Railway staff, this gentleman is well turned out with a clipped moustache and shining shoes. The badge on his hat reads 'GCR'. Note the pocket watch. See on Route Map
