Portrait of Mr. Coulson - Woodford Station Master
One of S. W. A. Newton's many images, capturing the railwaymen of the Great Central Railway. This view shows Mr. Coulson, the Station Master and Yard Master of Woodford & Hinton (later Woodford Halse), posed on the platform at Woodford & Hinton. The Great Central had a reputation for its immaculately turned out staff, and Mr. Coulson is a prime example. His uniform is adorned with brass buttons, and the letters 'GCR' embroidered on his lapel. He also wears a 'GCR' badge on his hat. Note the spotless state of the station, including the 'polished' milk churns. See on Route Map
