Marylebone Station under construction
Superb view of the future Marylebone Station site being levelled and prepared for the construction of the station. Various tracks and sidings can be seen entering the photograph from the right, with several Midland Railway drop-side mineral wagons dotted around the area. Gangs of navvies can also be seen emptying the wagons or carrying out other construction work. The construction of Marylebone was carried out by J. T. Firbank of London Bridge circa 1896. Imagine the number of houses that had to be demolished to make way for this site.
