Horse and cart filling a tipping wagon 'near Carlisle Street', St. Johns Wood, London, circa 1897 (S. W. A. Newton's notes). The construction and condition of the contractor's temporary rails and loading stage is poor, but not untypical. J. T. Firbank of London Bridge was the contractor responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No. 7).
