Girder underbridge

Girder underbridge at Wilford in Nottinghamshire, photographed on 22nd May 1897. The bridge's small span and the farm gate in the foreground indicate this to be an occupation bridge, built to provide farmers access to their land. Logan & Hemingway was the contractor responsible for constructing this section of the Railway (Contract No. 1, Annesley to Leake). The men in the foreground could be the contractor's themselves, or could perhaps be construction foremen.
