Quainton Road Station

Quainton Road Station on the Metropolitan Railway, looking North. Beyond the level crossing in the far distance was the site of the junction where the London Extension connected with the Met. With the coming of the Great Central, the level crossing was replaced by an over bridge to carry the road. The photograph is taken from the 'down' platform, while the main building stands on the 'up' platform ('Up' trains always ran towards London). To the right of the picture is the platform for the Brill Tramway - operated by the Metropolitan.
