Farm Labourers with steam engine and threshing machine

A group of farm labourers pose with a steam engine and threshing machine at Charwelton, Northamptonshire, circa 1897. S. W. A. Newton regularly deviated from the Railway's construction to photograph the local inhabitants. For this photo, he must have been close to the route taken by Contract No. 4 (Rugby to Woodford built by T. Oliver & Son).
