Girder bridge construction
Construction of St. Augustine Street bridge, Leicester, circa 1897. As the steam powered winch lifts the girder into place, a policeman and a large crowd of spectators look on. The bridge was built as part of Contract No. 2, Leake to Aylestone built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
