Steel Girder Bridge with Brick Parapets
A steel girder overbridge with brick parapets and brick-built, straight wing walls. The bridge was built as part of Contract No. 5 (Woodford to Brackley) awarded to Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne. The photograph, taken c1897, shows the bridge as being completed but the completed rail track only reaches the bridge. Beyond the bridge, the track is still under construction and various items of rail construction litter the site.
