Pedestrian Crossing

An occupation crossing for pedestrians, traversing a double railway line in a shallow cutting, located near Calvert, Buckinghamshire. This section of line was built as part of Contract No. 6 (Brackley - Quainton Road) warded to Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne. Presumably, the crossing was constructed for the benefit of the local populace. A wooden staircase and handrail is shown, providing access for a footpath to the crossing. An unidentified brick arch overbridge can be seen in the distance.
