Steel girder bridge and brick viaduct over the LNWR at Rugby in Warwickshire.
A steel girder bridge and brick built viaduct, crossing the London & North Western Railway and the River Avon flood plain in Rugby, Warwickshire. The viaduct was built as part of Contract No. 4 awarded to T. Oliver & Sons. Just north of the viaduct is the large steel girder bridge carrying the GCR over the Oxford Canal. The photograph, taken circa 1950, shows the bridge in operation and a group of early train-spotters looking over a boundary wall. The building in the background on the left is the Rugby Locomotive Testing Station, constructed between 1938 and 1948, with building work being suspended during World War Two. See on Route Map
