Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, SWANSEA.

Manning Wardle & Co. 'K' class 0-6-0 saddletank, SWANSEA, No. 595 of 1877. The locomotive is pictured at Grendon Underwood when working on the Princes Risborough to Grendon Underwood section of the Great Western and Great Central joint line - built by Louis P. Nott between 1902 and 1905. SWANSEA had previously been named MEDBOURNE No. 6, and had been in the ownership of Logan & Hemingway. The crew stand posed on and around the locomotive - note the young girl in the arms of the bowler-hatted gentleman on the footplate. See on Route Map
