Contractors' 0-4-0 saddletank locomotive, H. LOVATT No. 15.

0-4-0 contractors' saddletank locomotive, H. LOVATT No. 15, pictured with two crew at Rothley in Leicestershire, circa 1897. The locomotive was one of the fleet belonging to Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton who was the contractor employed to build the railway between East Leake and Aylestone (Contract No. 2). The locomotive (No. 226) was built by Manning Wardle & Co. of Leeds in 1868 and was one of their 'E' class. It was first used in the construction of the Lancashire Union Railway. See on Route Map
