Contractors' 0-4-0 saddletank locomotive, NELLIE.

0-4-0 contractor's saddletank locomotive, NELLIE, with her three crew at Rugby in Warwickshire, circa 1897. It was photographed at work on Contract No. 4 (Rugby to Woodford) being built by T. Oliver & Son. The locomotive was built by the Hunslet Engine Co. of Leeds in 1868 - works No. 29. Prior to working on the London Extension, this locomotive had seen service at Waterloo Colliery. Note the large dumb buffers that have been fitted for shunting wagons. See on Route Map
