Contractors' 0-4-0 saddletank locomotive, JUBILEE.
0-4-0 contractor's saddletank locomotive, JUBILEE, pictured with her two crew at Bedehouse Meadows, Leicester on 23rd March 1898. The engine was built by Manning Wardle & Co. of Leeds in 1887 - No. 990. From the visible surroundings, the photograph appears to have been taken at the contractor's yard or depot. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton was the contractor responsible for the construction of this part of the line (Contract No. 2 - East Leake to Aylestone). See on Route Map
