L2989. According to S. W. A. Newton's original notes, the man stood beside this hay laden cart at Charwelton is 'Mr. C. H. Birch's carman'. In common with many other rural subjects that Newton captured on his travels along the route of the railway, the man's own name is sadly unknown. | |
