Bridge 403 near Cosby in Leicestershire

Bridge 403 near Cosby in Leicestershire

Go back to the records from the Cosby map.
L3181. This view of the underside of Bridge 403, near Cosby in Leicestershire, shows quite clearly how the girder decks of these common bridges were riveted together. The decks are effectively two separate items, but the are joined together at points along the centre line. 'H' section girders were used for the construction, and these are riveted together at ninety degree angles to one another. Count the rivets!
