L2452. Taken around 1897, this interesting photograph captures the stairway at the proposed site of Swithland station in Leicestershire. In common with many other stations on the Last Main Line, passengers would climb these steps and emerge onto the platform. As it was, a station was never built on this site, despite the bridge's completion.
