L2005. Having left Whetstone Station, northbound trains would cross Station Street on Bridge 398, then Enderby Road on the now demolished Bridge 397. The next crossing was almost immediately after Bridge 397, where the GCR crossed the former London & North Western Railway's Leicester - Nuneaton line on a skew plate-girder span. This May 1977 view shows the centre bracing girders in detail. These ran the full length of the bridge span, dividing the two running lines. Bridge 396 is still standing in 2003.
