L1993. Bridge 402 was built to carry the Great Central over the Cosby to Whetstone road (Cambridge Road) near Cosby in Leicestershire. It was one of the many steel girder structures with a criss-crossed lattice parapet built on the London Extension, and still survived in its original condition when this photograph was taken in May 1977. The photograph is looking at the bridge's east side and gives a clear view of the underside and how the girders were riveted together. Today in 2003, only the northern abutment still stands. | |
