L1985. Bridge 405 was originally built to carry the Great Central over the old Midland Counties Railway that ran between Leicester and Rugby. The bridge was a wide girder span with a criss-crossed lattice parapet. This photograph was taken from the GCR trackbed looking south in May 1977. Bridge 405 sits in the centre of the image, while Bridge 407 can be seen in the distance. The trackbed is still very clear, even after eight years of closure. | |
