L1730. New Basford Station under construction, Nottinghamshire, circa 1897. At the centre of the photograph is the 'island' platform along which the station buildings were built. Tipping wagons are employed on three lines of contractor's temporary railway to bring men, materials and equipment to the building site. Logan & Hemingway was the firm responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake).
