L1726. Contractor's temporary railway heading into the north portal of Mansfield Road tunnel, Nottinghamshire, circa 1897. This was the site of Carrington Station, built along the small stretch of land between the tunnel seen here, and the southern portal of Sherwood Rise tunnel. This section of the London Extension (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake) was built by Logan & Hemingway.
