L1579. Temporary bridge and signal on the Shawell to Churchover Road, Leicestershire, circa 1897. Just visible along the cutting is a three arch brick overbridge. The tracks on the left of the photograph are not the permanent way, but contractor's temporary rails laid to bring men, materials and machinery to and from the construction site. Topham, Jones & Railton was the contractor who built this section of the Line (Contract No.3 Aylestone to Rugby).
