5P class 4-6-0 No. 45622, NYASALAND, at Whetstone.
On 25th May 1963, Manchester United and Leicester City came head to head in the F. A. Cup final at Wembley Stadium. To get the fans to the stadium, special trains were laid on - this one being hauled by ex-LMS 'Jubilee' 4-6-0, No. 45622, NYASALAND. This photograph shows the train, loaded with fans full of anticipation, as it headed south through Whetstone. The Leicester fans were to be disappointed as Manchester United won 3-1 - Dennis Law scoring one of their goals. See on Route Map
