Loughborough Central Station, Loughborough, Leicestershire

Loughborough Central station was of a similar size and style to those built at Rugby and Brackley, further south on the London Extension. Today Loughborough is the only complete survivor and is the headquarters for the Great Central Railway (1976) and the Main Line Steam Trust. Just visible on the gable ends on the building's left are two date stones which set the building at 1898. The open doorway leads directly into the booking hall, and then stairs lead down to the platforms below. The date of this image is 19th July 2002. See on Route Map
