Electric locomotives at Rickmansworth

An interesting photograph taken of the locomotive changeover at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. A southbound train of compartment stock (leading car no. 444) waits for the Metropolitan 1921 electric locomotive No. 7 EDMUND BURKE to back on. A British Rail steam engine is on the right, having brought the train from Aylesbury, and is seen shunting back through towards the sidings to await a northbound train. In 1960, the line from Rickmansworth to Amersham and Chesham was electrified. See on Route Map
