New locomotives outside the Beyer Peacock works in Gorton, Manchester.

The firm of Beyer Peacock & Co. had many connections with the Great Central Railway, the most notable being its location in Gorton, Manchester - close to the GCR's main locomotive works. Beyer Peacock built locomotives to order, mainly for the export market, but also built many locomotives that saw service in Britain including several for the Great Central. Here we can see part of the works with a number of newly built locomotives destined for shipment oversees. See on Route Map
