A view along the permanent way at a rock cutting south of Kirby tunnel, near Annesley, Nottinghamshire. It was here that the Last Main Line began, having left the existing network of the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway (later Great Central Railway) and heading south on its journey towards London.
