Goods ticket for Newton's bicycle
Great Western Railway's goods ticket No. 173, completed for the journey of S. W. A. Newton's bicycle from Princes Risborough to Leicester, dated 6th August 1900. Why Newton photographed this particular consignment note, out of the dozens he must have collected through his journey along the London Extension, is unknown. At a cost of seven shillings and six pence, it is easy to appreciate why Newton had to sell some of his photographs in order to finance his repeated expeditions.
