Construction of Whetstone Station, Leicestershire

Looking north at the building of the 'foundations of Whetstone station', Leicestershire (S.W.A. Newton's notes). Note the line of contractor's temporary railway running up the steep gradient to the level of the new station. This section of the Railway (Contract No.3, Aylestone to Rugby) was built by Topham, Jones & Railton. See on Route Map
