L2597. Photographed outside Aylesbury shed, this is the Metropolitan Railway's 2-4-0T D-Class locomotive No. 75 (works no. 4077). Six D-Class engines were produced, all of them being built by Sharp, Stewart & Co. in 1895. Withdrawn from service in 1922, they were the shortest and lightest of all the Metropolitan engines. | |
