The north end of Loughborough Central Station

The north end of Loughborough Central Station

Go back to the records from the Loughborough South map.
L3249. 2002 or 1962? This photograph shows just how well Loughborough Central station has been restored by the volunteers of the Main Line Steam Trust. The tall building on the bridge is the main booking hall and offices, and stairs lead down from this to the platforms below. The platforms themselves are protected by a substantial glazed canopy, and the original gents toilet block is still in use. The water column on the end of the platform is an original feature, and has a brazier beneath it to help prevent it freezing in winter. The date is in fact the 19th July 2002.
