Station building at Leicester North Station on the Great Central Railway

Station building at Leicester North Station on the Great Central Railway

Go back to the records from the Thurcaston map.
L3233. When the Great Central Railway (1976) finally opened its extension to Leicester in the early 1990's, there were no facilities on the station to speak of. In recent years, however, this new building has been constructed on the west platform at the station. It consists of a waiting room, toilet, refreshment area and ticket office - and will eventually form part of a much grander terminus site built to a traditional Great Central style. The photograph was taken on 19th July 2002.
