Northern end of Braunstone Gate Bridge and Viaduct in Leicester.

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L3214. This severed section of the old Leicester Viaduct (Bridge 374) is situated on Duns Lane in Leicester. From here, the viaduct continued north (to the left of the photograph) to Leicester Central station, approximately a quarter of a mile further on. The ramp in the picture was to allow access to the Great Central Way (a cycle and foot path linking Leicester with Aylestone) and the Braunstone Gate girder bridge. However, the latter had been deemed unsafe and the ramp is now closed to the public.
