Bridge 374 at Braunstone Gate, Leicester.

Bridge 374 at Braunstone Gate, Leicester.

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L3203. This photograph was taken looking north at the start point of the old Leicester viaduct that stretched over a mile across the city. It was made up of many different types of bridge, but all were collectively known as Bridge 374. The bridge in the foreground crosses the old River Soar near Braunstone Gate, close to the large 'Bowstring' girder bridge seen at the rear of the photograph. The bridge is technically part of the Great Central Way cycle and foot path, but access is restricted at one end. The date of this north facing photograph is 15th July 2002. Note the graffiti.
