The start of Bridge 374 or Leicester Viaduct.

The start of Bridge 374 or Leicester Viaduct.

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L3199. This lattice girder bridge marked the start point of the Leicester viaduct that stretched over a mile across the city. It was made up of many different types of bridge, but all were collectively known as Bridge 374. The bridge crossed the old River Soar near Braunstone Gate, close to the large 'Bowstring' girder bridge. The bridge is technically part of the Great Central Way cycle and foot path, but access is restricted at one end. The date of this west facing photograph is 15th July 2002.
