Underside of Bridge 378 - Upperton Road in Leicester.

Underside of Bridge 378 - Upperton Road in Leicester.

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L3189. Bridge 378 is a large brick and iron structure that carries Leicester's Upperton Road over the site of the Great Central Railway's former goods yards. This photograph illustrates the way in which the the blue-brick supporting pillars are constructed - complete with strengthening arches. This section of the old London Extension now forms part of the Great Central Way; a public footpath that links Leicester and Aylestone. Unfortunately, the graffiti is a common feature.
