Trackbed of the London Extension at Whetstone, Leicestershire

Trackbed of the London Extension at Whetstone, Leicestershire

Go back to the records from the Whetstone map.
L3183. Several sections of the old London Extension can still be seen around Leicester, particularly to the south of the city. This rural looking scene is actually a short section of the old embankment in the centre of Whetstone. Less than a hundred yards behind the camera was the site of Whetstone Station, while in front was the long removed Bridge 397.
