L3005. Thought to have been taken near Woodford around 1897, this is a fascinating snapshot of bridge construction. The brick piers are already in place, and the wooden centrings have been installed. These timber frames would be boarded, and over the temporary arches the navvies could then begin laying the bricks of the permanent structure.
