L2979. S. W. A. Newton was a prolific photographer whose repeated expeditions to record the Last Main Line's construction also led him to capture some of the many rural subjects that he encountered along the route. This servant lady was photographed in the grounds of Hellidon House, around one mile to the west of the railway.
