L2865. Built by Henry Lovatt & Co. as part of Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone), this is the brick arch overbridge that carried Thurcaston Road across the London Extension at Birstall, Leicester. The photograph provides an interesting contrast between the permanent way on the left, and the contractor's temporary rails on the right - albeit if the latter have been relatively well laid and maintained.
