L2787. A watchman stands on the temporary railway and poses for Newton's camera in front of the imposing plate girder overbridge that carried Perry Road across the London Extension at Basford. This man would almost certainly have worked for Logan & Hemingway, the firm responsible for building Contract No.1 (Annesley to Leake) of the Last Main Line.
