L2627. A view from the empty platform of Chorleywood Station, a stop on the Underground's Metropolitan line. The photograph provides an opportunity to see the original Metropolitan Railway platform canopies, with their fine columns and decorative iron brackets. Chorleywood lay on the part of the existing Metropolitan network that became the Metropolitan & Great Central Joint Line, following the latter company's completion of their London Extension mainline in 1899.
