L2454. This photograph was taken during construction of the lattice girder bridge which carried the Last Main Line over the Grand Union Canal at West Bridge. The structure, built by Henry Lovatt & Co. as part of Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone), formed part of the long viaduct that brought the railway across much of the city.
