L2419. A gang of four platelayers stop their wagon laden with sleepers and pose for Newton's camera, photographed at the Meadows area of Nottingham around 1897. Working above them on another section of temporary railway is an 0-6-0 contractor's locomotive. Logan & Hemingway was the firm contracted to build this section of the Line (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake).
