L2335. A number of mineral wagons, some belonging to the Midland Railway, sit on the temporary rails of a contractor's yard near Willoughby, circa 1897. This yard would have been operated by Thomas Oliver & Son, the firm responsible for building this section of the Last Main Line (Contract No.4, Rugby to Woodford). Strewn with a variety of materials, the field bears the scars of ridge and furrow farming. | |
