Bridge 314 - Barnstone tunnel, Nottinghamshire

Bridge 314 - Barnstone tunnel, Nottinghamshire

Go back to the records from the Loughborough North map.
L2200. Looking north from the portal of bridge 314, the short brick arch tunnel near East Leake that passed beneath Rempstone Road. This photograph was taken in June 1977, some eight years after the Last Main Line had finally closed. However, despite being reduced to a single track, this section of the Railway had remained in service as a branch from the Midland Line at Loughborough to the military depot at Ruddington. Today, it is used as both a freight route and as part of the Great Central North preserved line.
